Technical Sales Manager – Food Industry

Position: Technical Sales Manager – Food Industry

Reports to: General Manager, CFS North America, LLC

Direct Reports: None


Business Management

- Identify and execute sales strategies to gain market share within the food industry 
- Develop customer and distributor relationships to achieve account penetration with marketing, procurement, R&D, technical managers, and other key stakeholders
- Aggressively and creatively identify and pursue new business opportunities at key accounts
- Consistently meet or exceed objectives for sales and profitability
- Develop in-depth knowledge about customer history, organization relationships, manufacturing capabilities, competitive issues, potential opportunities, etc. and transfers this knowledge to the organization for use in business maintenance and growth
- Assure customer exposures to various functions within CFS are positive and productive for both the customer and CFS 

Technical Support

- Utilize knowledge about all products, current and potential applications to support customer and distributor needs
- Build strong internal relationships with global team to optimize value to the customer
- Help ideate or develop new products that would expand or compliment the current product portfolio
- Work with Technical/Application team to understand testing capabilities and programs for the customer


- Assemble call reports that provide useful information and are submitted within agreed timeframes
- Effectively communicate with management and other relevant functions to describe markets, problems, needs, and competitive developments in order to effectively support customer needs and plan strategies and objectives
- Disseminate information to distributors/customers or internally to CFS in a way that effectively meets the specific need


- Provide accurate sales forecasts and participate in annual budget preparation
- Expenses are maintained within agreed upon budgets and expense reports are filed promptly


- Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field, business or related field
- 5-7 years of field sales experience in Food Ingredients or related industry 
- Proven track record of sales growth or developing of new accounts
- Demonstrated ability to write and present clear, organized and informative business communications and presentations
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office products and CRM systems.  
- Ability to work from home office
- Demonstrated ability to manage on-going projects and bring them to completion
- A high degree of personal motivation and sense of urgency
