Few areas of modern industry remain untouched by Camlin Fine Sciences (CFS). At the heart of this wide-reaching impact lies our Performance Chemicals business, built on deep expertise in diphenols and their derivatives.
CFS is among the leading global manufacturers of diphenols, produced at our facility in India. There are numerous downstream products derived from diphenols that serve as essential building blocks across industries.
Through these products, CFS enables applications across petrochemicals, polymers, agrochemicals, dyes and pigments, pharmaceuticals, and beyond. In many cases, our chemistries are critical to performance, stability, and efficiency, quietly powering innovations that shape everyday life.
FY2025-26 was a challenging year for the business, primarily due to sustained pricing pressure from Chinese competition, which impacted realizations across key product categories. In response, the business has taken decisive steps to realign its focus towards specialty, application-led solutions. This shift is aimed at strengthening differentiation, improving margins, and reducing exposure to price volatility. Steady growth was observed in specialty application products such as HQEE, TBC, and ODEB, reflecting increasing demand for higher-value chemistries.
CFS has been successfully expanding the company’s presence in specialty polyurethane applications. A joint patent has been filed, reinforcing its leadership in niche, high-value segments. We have also developed a next generation product in the home care segment that can offer enhanced performance benefits as well as a sustainable solution, aligned with evolving industry requirements.
Strategic Direction for 2026-27
The strategic focus for the Performance Chemicals business is to accelerate towards specialty applications. We will expand our presence in high-performance segments to reduce dependence on commodity price cycles. By building on diphenol platform and leveraging R&D capabilities, CFS is evolving rather than being a commodity supplier.
