Xtendra BHA is one of the traditional antioxidants offered by Camlin Fine Scieces (CFS) and we hold a process patent for manufacturing it. One of the preferred antioxidants for animal fats, Xtendra BHA is sometimes used in synergistic combination with other traditional antioxidants like BHT or Ethoxyquin.

PROVEN, EXCELLENT MOLD INHIBITOR FOR ANIMAL FEED

Feed mold control is very important to maintain quality of feed over time. Mold inhibitor used for preserving animal feed for both pets and livestock to effectively maintain nutrition of feed, feed hygiene and prevent diseases in livestock. It also helps preventing or treating ketosis and hypoglycemia in dairy cattle.

Propical (Calcium propionate) is a fine white powder that is an excellent additive for controlling mold growth in animal feed. Propical can be applied manually to the shrimp feed or it can be dosed directly in the mixer where all the feedstuffs are mixed.

An on-field trial was conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of Propical to control mold growth in shrimp feed below 10,000 CFU/g, and the trial was performed for a period of 28 weeks at room temperature, over which mold count was monitored.

Shrimp feed sampling: 2,000 kg of control shrimp feed (without Propical) was sampled, labelled and stored; without stopping the manufacturing process. A second sample of shrimp feed was applied with Propical at a dosage of 1.0 kg/T, equivalent to 1,000 ppm to the mixer, collected, labelled and stored.  The storage conditions of shrimp feed took into account normal risk factors; it was stored away from direct sunlight, without wall protection, temperature varied between 15 – 40 °C, and with a humidity range of 60-90 %.

The samples were analysed for the mold count and Propical residue at the beginning of the trial.

Results: The control shrimp feed sample (without Propical) exceeded the standards at week 6, while the treated shrimp feed sample (with Propical) kept the mold growth under control during the 28-weeks trial. These results were confirmed by recovering Propical residue after shrimp feed manufacturing process, which was more than 80 % of active ingredient. It is proven that Propical is an excellent additive to control mold growth in shrimp feed. 

Recommended dosage: 500 to 1000 g/T of finished feed, depending on the humidity.
