Hydroquinone is an aromatic organic compound that is a type of phenol, and a derivative of benzene. It is available as a white granular solid.

Hydroquinone is produced industrially by two main routes. The most widely used route is similar to the cumene process in reaction mechanism and involves the dialkylation of benzene with propene to give 1,4-diisopropylbenzene. This compound reacts with air to afford the bis(hydroperoxide), which is structurally similar to cumene hydroperoxide and rearranges to give acetone and hydroquinone in acid. A second route involves hydroxylation of phenol. The conversion uses hydrogen peroxide and affords a mixture of hydroquinone and catechol:

C6H5OH + H2O2 → C6H4(OH)2 + H2O

1,4-Dimethoxybenzene (PDMB) is obtained from hydroquinone and is a solid crystalline mass, white in colour with pleasant sweet odour. It is used in synthesis of the active pharmaceutical ingredient Medodrine. It is manufactured industrially by the methylation of hydroquinone.

Applications:
Used in industry as an intermediate for fine chemical synthesis or an ingredient in the formulation of perfumes, cosmetics, personal care products, detergents (washing and cleaning products) and flavouring agents.
Used in dyes (yellow pigment).
Used as a weathering agent in paints and dyes

2-Chloro-1,4-dimethoxybenzene (CME) is clear colourless to slightly yellow coloured liquid with aromatic odour. CME is used in manufacturing of Naphthol AS-IRG and Naphthol AS-LC, which further use to produce dyes and pigments. CME is manufactured by the chlorination of 1,4-Dimethoxybenzene. It is used in manufacturing of downstream derivatives, which are further used to produce dyes and pigments.

APPLICATION:
Used as a building block for various dye intermediates & pigments, some of as follows:
Used in manufacture of Naphthol AS-IRG, an intermediate which is further used to manufacture pigment yellow 49/83/97/176 & other azoic dyes.

Used in the manufacture of Naphthol AS-LC, which is further use to manufacture pigment red 146/184.

4-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxyaniline (CMEB) is an off-white to white colour solid with an aromatic odour. It is mainly offered as a solution of 85% CMEB with 15% Water.

CMEB is manufactured from 2-Chloro- l,4-dimethoxybenzene by nitration followed by reduction. It is mainly used in Naphthol production to further manufacture dyes and pigments and also additives in the pharmaceutical and essence industries.

Chloranil is a quinone also known as tetrachloro-1,4-benzoquinone, is a yellow solid. Like the parent benzoquinone, chloranil is a planar molecule that functions as a mild oxidant. Chloranil is used as an oxidizing agent, dye intermediate, vulcanizing agent, dehydrogenation reagent, and veterinary topical medication. It is also used as a fungicide in seed treatment and foliar application and to make chloranil electrodes for pH measurements.

Uses & Applications

Dyes & Pigments:

Chloranil, a key raw material is used primarily in the production of Pigment Violet 23. It is also be used to make Reactive Blue Dye 187 and Pigment Violet 37.

 

Pharmaceuticals:

Chloranil is used to make DDQ (2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone), which is used as an oxidizing agent in the pharma industry. 

 

Chloranil is also used as raw material to make API Diaziquone.

The product has a shelf life of one year from its manufacturing date, when properly stored in its original package. Keep product in tightly closed container away from light and heat.
